Asia Argento is an Italian actor and director of films who was born into an extended family that included both. She's pursued the two careers for herself. When she was nine she made her acting debut in Sergio Cittis Sogni e bisogni. She had a leading role as Cristina Comencini in her first film Zoo in 1989. Michele Soavi directed The Church 1989. Asia started directing in the year 1994 when she made two short films: Prospettive (1996), an account of her father's life as well as Abel/Asia (1998) Abel/Asia, a feature about the cult filmmaker Abel Ferrara. The latter won an award from the Rome Film Festival. In 1999, Asia began her film-directing career with Scarlet Diva (2000), in which she was the leading actress and author for the script. The film came out in May 2000 across Italy and the rest of the world. The film was released on Brooklyn, New York it won a award at the Williamsburg film festival. Anna Lou, her first child, was born in 2001. She directed a number of music videos. In 2002, Asia starred as Jean-Marc Bar's co-star The Red Siren (Olivier Megaton) and Vin Diesel was the star of Rob Cohen's thriller action The Action. Asia also wrote several short stories which have been published by a number of magazines.
